Job Description:

We are looking for a SENDCo to join Woodmansterne School & Sixth Form. Our vision is to create an excellent and inclusive school community where children thrive and strive to become the best version of themselves. Staff and governors are united in their passion and commitment to ensuring our pupils are given the opportunities, motivation and direction they need in order to succeed. Our pupils are happy and confident young people, who are proud of their achievements and want to excel.

Woodmansterne School & Sixth Form is a diverse and vibrant community; we benefit from this rich variety of cultures and traditions. We are looking to extend our Inclusion team in response to the increasing demands on SEN staff in mainstream schools. Are you an exceptional and experienced SENDCo who shares our values and determination to ensure that all our young people receive an excellent, inclusive education where pupils are encouraged, guided and supported to overcome their barriers to learning.

We are looking for an excellent SENDCo with:

  • Proven successful teaching and achievement of outstanding pupil progress.
  • Experience of successful leadership skills or evidence of developing leadership skills at a primary, secondary or all-through school within a multicultural community.
  • National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinator.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation – in particular of the SEN Code of Practice, equal opportunities and disability discrimination and how these apply to pupils with EHCPs.
  • Experience of applying interventions appropriately.
  • Proven ability to work with a range of outside agencies in order to secure progress for SEND pupils.
  • Good working knowledge of specialist assessments and interventions e.g. dyslexia screening.
  • Experience in the principles of quality learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

Our strong and experienced leadership team are committed to providing an exceptional and enriching education for all our young people.
