ECTs in Lambeth

Whether you're still training or are looking for your first teaching position post-Initial Teacher Training, this page will tell you all you need to know about becoming an ECT in Lambeth.

Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction is a statutory period post-ITT (two years for a full-time
teacher; longer if part-time) that all teachers gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) must
undertake – a period of training, guidance, monitoring, assessment and support, designed to help you through the first part of your teaching career.

Those who have begun to undertake Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) induction prior to September 2021 have until the end of the 2022-2023 academic year to complete their induction under the NQT regulations – after this, any remaining induction must be completed under the ECT regulations.

Lambeth has around 180 teachers undertaking induction in our schools at any time, all of whom
have access to high-quality support from those working with them in schools and also from those working within Lambeth's specialist teams.

Lambeth is a great place to start your teaching career.

Lambeth is working in partnership with the London South Teaching School Hub to deliver a Full
training programme to meet the requirements of the Early Career Framework (ECF), making use of the expertise we have within Lambeth to not only deliver the training, but to deliver in in a way that is relevant to Lambeth teachers.
