Job Description:

We are looking for an outstanding EAL Co-ordinator who:

  • has recent experience of working in a school setting and supporting pupils (in any phase);
  • can use their knowledge and skills to assess the English levels of pupils, identify individual needs and plan specific interventions to help EAL pupils overcome learning barriers and achieve their targets;
  • can lead focused intervention groups on study skills, organisation, emotional well-being and motivation to support individuals and small groups of EAL pupils, to develop their English language skills;
  • will raise pupils’ educational achievements, setting high expectations of what can be achieved;
  • can identify pupils for public examinations in their home languages;
  • will use their initiative to develop our EAL provision, by offering a variety of activities and opportunities to engage pupils and families;
  • has strong literacy and numeracy skills and excellent communication skills, being able to communicate effectively in a variety of situations and use ICT effectively to support learning;
  • is a team player, collaborating effectively with colleagues to share effective practices and raise standards for our EAL pupils;
  • is kind, positive and committed to the school’s inclusive ethos, can-do attitude;
  • is reliable, flexible and calm, able to work under pressure and manage change effectively
