Saint Gabriel’s College is a small, inclusive 11-16 Church of England secondary school in the heart of inner-city London, where every member of the community is valued. Our students are encouraged to achieve excellence by working hard, continuously improving, growing spiritually, and thinking of others. We believe that all our students are made in the image of God and, as such, are of intrinsic value. Our mission is to help everyone in our school flourish and fulfil their unique, God-given potential. We educate the whole child, pursuing academic excellence through the principles of wisdom, hope, community, and dignity.

We are looking for an exceptional, experienced Head Teacher/Principal or an ambitious Deputy Head with a proven track record in driving improvement, strong communication skills, and honed leadership abilities to lead our wonderful school, Saint Gabriel’s College. We seek an ambitious, inspirational leader who can champion and enable our diverse community to flourish. This leader must demonstrate passion and emotional intelligence while making challenging decisions and holding those they lead accountable for their performance and conduct.

As Principal, and working alongside a supportive Governing Board, you will lead our school with strategic vision, fostering an environment where students and staff can achieve their full potential.

You will:

  • be responsible for driving educational excellence, upholding our Christian values, and ensuring the continued success and growth of our school community
  • provide visionary leadership
  • sustain the school’s ethos and strategic direction in partnership with the Governing Board and through consultation with the school community
  • lead by example and promote our Christian ethos, holding staff and students accountable for their behaviour
  • oversee systems, processes, and policies to ensure the school operates effectively to exceptional standards
  • identify challenges and barriers to school effectiveness and develop strategies for realistic, timely, and contextually appropriate school improvement
  • ensure the effective implementation of school improvement strategies
  • allocate financial resources appropriately, efficiently, and effectively

Upon joining us, you will be supported by a comprehensive induction programme facilitated by the Governors and the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education.
