Jubilee Primary School

Tulse Hill

Jubilee Primary School is a vibrant, fun-filled, caring and supportive school, situated 10 minutes from the centre of Brixton, where the development, happiness and well-being of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do.

Our hard working and dedicated staff team are committed to delivering a curriculum that stimulates, challenges and inspires all of our pupils. We have developed a mastery based approach to the teaching of maths and reading and we use high quality texts as inspiration for our writing. This has led to fantastic results in both Key Stage 1 and 2. We use the International Primary Curriculum to deliver exciting, meaningful lessons where pupils are able to learn a broad range of subjects and skills and gain an understanding of how their learning relates to the world in which they live.

We are strongly committed to the development of our staff, whatever stage they are at in their careers and continued professional learning is very important to us.

Music is a key part of our curriculum- through our partnership with London Music Masters all children are given the opportunity to learn a tuned instrument and we are extremely proud of our infant and junior school choirs. As a Rights Respecting school, the UNICEF Rights of the Child forms a basis to model respect for all and this permeates through all of our work.   We are proud of our green spaces and offer a host of enrichment opportunities through clubs, trips, competitions and performances.

We believe we are all learners for life, adults and children alike and we try to instill this in our pupils. Our aim is to nurture keen learners, confident, resilient individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

Our staff know their pupils well, have the highest expectations for them and strive for every child to fulfil their potential. Our pupils are motivated, ambitious and enjoy their learning and we ensure their endeavours and successes are celebrated.

If you are interested in applying for a position within the school or just want to find out more about our work, then please explore our website or come and visit us to find out more. Jubilee really is a special place.

Holmewood Nursery school is situated in Central Lambeth, off Brixton Hill.  The school is located in a densely populated area of contrasting households in terms of culture, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.

Holmewood provides education for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with 95 full time equivalent places in the main nursery (2 - 4 year olds) and 12 full time equivalent places in the two year old provision.  The school's intake is very culturally diverse with a high percentage of children from mixed, or Black-British / Caribbean / African backgrounds. Nearly half of the children speak English as an additional language, with many at the early stages of learning English.

Holmewood is federated with Maytree and Triangle Nursery Schools.  As a Federated Nursery School, Holmewood is led by an Executive Head Teacher, Head of School and teachers working with other qualified early years practitioners. Holmewood offers highly inclusive education with qualified and caring staff.  It has rich and varied indoor and outdoor learning environments that allow children to play and be active in developing and acquiring new skills and knowledge; children are well motivated and are thoroughly absorbed in their learning.

They are encouraged to experiment and explore and children are very well challenged to enable them to take risks safely and develop their own problem solving skills. Outdoor learning is supported through the Natural Thinkers curriculum and an extensive allotment.

Each child is allocated a Key Person, one of our skilled early years educators or teachers. They get to know the children in their group very well and work in collaboration with their parents. Teachers and practitioners support, encourage and facilitate learning opportunities so that children are happy, confident and independent learners.

All teachers and practitioners have a thorough understanding of children’s early learning and development and the early years foundation stage and understand the importance of working together with parents and other professionals.

At Holmewood, we believe in investing in professional development and bespoke training to meet individual needs so that all teachers and practitioners feel motivated and committed to the continuing success of the school.
