The Elmgreen School is an oversubscribed, high performing co-educational 11–18 secondary school. We are part of The Great North Wood Education Trust with the outstanding Rosendale Primary School. Together we are committed to providing outstanding education from 0-19 through staying at the leading edge of educational research.
As the country’s first parent promoted school ‘The Elmgreen Way’ is integral to all of our structures. When you walk around the school you can feel the positive, welcoming atmosphere the school is so proud of. At The Elmgreen School there is something different, something special about the way:
‘We look after ourselves; We look after each other; We look after our school and We look after our community’.
The school’s curriculum has been developed to provide stimulating academic and vocational opportunities, meeting the needs of all students. At The Elmgreen School we set challenging targets and then we ensure they are met or exceeded. Great importance is also attached to pursuing skills and interests through a wide range of extension and extra-curricular activities.
Learning
As part of The Great North Wood Education Trust with Rosendale Primary School we pride ourselves on the quality of our transition. All students benefit from an excellent primary/secondary transition programme and an outstanding Key Stage 3 curriculum. There is a strong emphasis on English, Maths and Science complemented by our strong Humanities offer. The 14–19 curriculum offers a broad range of personalised pathways designed to enable maximum attainment. The school works to offer a rich experience for all our students from Mandarin and Latin to dance and debating. The progress of all students is closely monitored and tracked with regular and meaningful feedback to families. Particular support is given to those students who have specific learning or language needs.
The inclusivity of The Elmgreen School is reflected in its diverse cohort. Our commitment to every young person’s achievement ensures that every young person is stretched. The school also has a well-resourced Special Educational Needs Department. Lambeth’s Secondary Hearing Support provision is also located at the school.
Students have a strong voice in the life of their school and are encouraged to become active learners and citizens. Humanities, the chosen specialism of the school, offers students, families and the local community access to a range of exciting learning opportunities within the areas of English, History, Geography and Languages. University and business links are of paramount importance, with students benefiting from creative partnerships at a local and national level. All students experience a range of work-related opportunities aimed at raising aspirations and achievement.
Ambitions
Students at The Elmgreen School are encouraged to become articulate young people, filled with the confidence the school community and the wider community places in them. They are valued and respected so they, in turn, respect and value those around them. They achieve highly so that they are well prepared for life in a modern and ethnically diverse society.
Sixth Form
