Job Description:

La Retraite is a high-achieving inner-city comprehensive school with 1,200 students, including a thriving Sixth Form. We were judged Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted (Dec 2023) and Outstanding in all nine areas in our 2024 Diocesan Inspection.

We are seeking a passionate and inspiring Science Teacher to join our outstanding team in a full-time, permanent position. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality Science teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach at Key Stage 5 for a suitably qualified candidate.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a specialism in Physics or those with an interest in contributing to our growing T Level provision through the delivery of science-related content within the Construction T Level programme. This role offers a unique opportunity to help students develop both strong scientific understanding and the technical knowledge required for future careers in industry.

Be a qualified and motivated teacher of Science, preferably with a Physics specialism.

• Have a strong track record of delivering outstanding lessons and securing excellent student outcomes.

• Be confident teaching Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to teach Physics at Key Stage 5 desirable.

• Have an interest in developing and delivering the science components of vocational pathways, including the Construction T Level.

• Be committed to developing students’ knowledge, confidence, problem-solving skills and readiness for further study and employment.

• Demonstrate high expectations, excellent classroom practice and a clear commitment to the Teachers’ Standards.

• Bring energy, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for inspiring young people to succeed in Science.

• Embrace and actively support our Catholic ethos.

We warmly welcome applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are eager to develop their practice within a supportive and collaborative environment. Applications from experienced teachers looking to broaden their expertise into vocational and technical education are also encouraged.

At La Retraite, our vibrant and inclusive community is built on a commitment to excellence, challenge and care. Our Catholic ethos welcomes staff and students of all faiths and none, fostering a culture where every individual is valued.

If you are excited to contribute to our outstanding team, we would love to hear from you!
