Job Description:

Wyvil Primary School is an exciting and innovative school situated in the centre of London, based across three buildings. We have two mainstream sites with integrated resource base classes for children with Autism and Speech and Language needs, and an Autism Resource Base in Kennington. From September 2026 we will have a brand new and purposefully designed inclusive EYFS mainstream learning environment.

We are looking to appoint an aspirational, hardworking and caring Teaching Assistant to initially join our inclusive and ambitious EYFS team where you will be predominantly working with children with SEND. Experience of working in the EYFS and/or working with children with Autism and Speech and Language needs would be beneficial.

This would be ideal for someone who is willing to develop their SEND experience within a Primary school, either as a stepping stone to teaching or further career development in working with children with SEND.

 

The role will involve:

  •  supporting pupils with Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs within EYFS and the wider school;
  • delivering targeted support, including (previous experience not necessary but preferred):
  1. Sensory circuits and Sensory diets
  2. Intensive interaction
  3. Attention Autism
  4. Zones of regulation
  5. Phonics
  • supporting pupils during class-based learning and wider school activities;
  • working closely with the class teachers, phase lead and other specialists to deliver high quality provision;
  • using teacher planning, preparation and assessment to deliver weekly interventions;
  • supporting the implementation and assessment of individual targets and feeding back to the class teachers;
  • creating a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all pupils across the school.

You will:

  • ideally have experience in delivering support and interventions to children with SEND, including in the EYFS, however enthusiasm and determination are the key requirements as training will be offered;
  • work flexibly within a collaborative and supportive team while being reflective, proactive and willing to learn;
  • build positive and meaningful relationships with children;
  • have a strong interest in EYFS and SEND, including communication and language development;
  • support children to develop their communication, independence and social interaction skills;
  • work closely with therapists and teaching staff to ensure consistency across interventions and classroom practice;
  • have high expectations of behaviour, inclusion, children’s learning and progress.
