St. Andrew’s CE Primary

Kay Road, London SW9 9DE

Primary

St. Andrew’s CE Primary School is a one-form entry, voluntary aided primary school in Stockwell. We are a small, friendly and successful primary school. We are known locally for our enthusiastic welcome and our family atmosphere. We have excellent relationships with our families and we know our children very well. Our aim is to ensure that all our pupils enjoy their time at St. Andrew’s and that they develop a lively and enquiring mind.

We value each other and every child as an individual.

Our curriculum at St. Andrew’s reflects the cultural diversity of our school and is designed to be exciting and interesting. Our aim is to ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential through a wide range of educational experiences. Our location in the heart of Lambeth means that the whole of London is on our doorstep. Our children frequently visit art galleries, museums and theatres. We regularly work in partnership with professional artists and musicians and have links with the National Theatre and the Royal Opera House.

We promote enjoyment for learning at all times and encourage children to be independent, reflective learners through the development of thinking skills.

We are dedicated to staff development and all members of our team have access to high quality in-house and external training opportunities. We also offer the opportunity for our staff to work towards a qualification such as the NPQML, NPQSL, NVQ or other accredited course. As a member of the St. Andrew’s team you will not only be given support in your current role, but you will be encouraged to develop your potential.

We currently hold the Investors in People Gold Award and in 2016, we also achieved the Professional Development Quality Mark (Gold). We are very proud of our successes and the strength of our school team. Our staff are understanding to each other and there is a genuine culture of mutual respect and support.

“There is a collegiate approach to the day-to-day running of St Andrew’s School. Although people are clear about their role, there is a strong sense of teamwork, which helps to ensure that people are supportive of their colleagues. This is effectively modelled at a high level, with senior leaders being approachable and willing to share their expertise on an ongoing basis.” (Investors in People 2016)

At St. Andrew’s our expertise does not just remain in our school, but is widely shared. We are a lead school for the School Direct programme and offer placements via the London Diocesan Board for Schools, and several members of our staff team are Specialist Leaders of Education.

St. Andrew’s CE Primary is part of the SW9 Partnership, along with Christ Church Primary SW9
